Oh yes we did ..
.. buy a car this weekend! When Tim and I moved to Germany last year, we wondered if we would need a car so we took a wait-and-see attitude. After 5 months of feeling virtually confined to a 2-kilometer vicinity of what is in walking distance from our house and becoming totally tired of the worse-than-ever grocery store near us, we’ve decided to take the plunge. Not on a BMW, not on a sports car, just on a conservative, little Opel Corsa! (with the necessary features for Tim …)

This car fits both our requirements, mine being that it should be reliable (year 2005, still under warranty) and good value for the money (first year of depreciation is already off); Tim’s being that it should have a CD player, electric windows and look a bit sharp. (You may be thinking, sharp? You call that sharp? My answer: you should have seen some of the other options we considered!)
So do tell: do you have a car and if so, what’s it like?

That car is sharp….compared to the Suzuki Wagon R that Libby and I drive. Our tin box is powered by a 1000cc gasoline engine, which means fantastic gas mileage, but a slow trundle up the many hills in Japan. We rent our workhorse as part of our apartment rent. David Stafford told me that the Suzuki Wagon R is a featured car on the game Gran Tourismo, but I haven’t played that in a couple of years.
It’s brother, interestingly enough, is the Opel Agila - according to Wikipedia.
Congrats on the new car.

I drive a Saturn L-Series (boring).
After we pay for our wedding and put a dent in my 90k of law school debt, I’m going to get a Toyota Rav-4 or a Honda CR-V. Someday.

Nice ride Cheryl and Tim! Looks sharp to me. Especially compared to lovely, 1996 Dark Green Honda Accord LX. Yes folks, she’s turned the big 1-0. Still runs and just under 178,000. Thousands of miles before she sleeps. [Must find wood to knock on]

Hi Cheryl. Great to see another American in Aschaffenburg. I also got myself a new car - a VW Golf at Opel Brass, near the city park.
See ya,
Danny

Target’s got wedding bubble bottles, it’s either 4 or 6 for a dollar and they have a little plastic dove on the lid.
