About the small things in life that seem oh so big

True Love

Posted in Storytelling by Cheryl on 25 September 2006

I’m happy to say that my dad loves my mom. One way you particularly can tell this is true is when Mom asks Dad to make or fix something for her, he builds or fixes whatever she asked for to perfection. I remember on various occasions everything from Mom’s hairdryer to the toaster to the toboggan sled to the screened-in patio being on Dad’s to-do list.

Most recently, it was a dog tunnel.

What, pray tell, would she need a dog tunnel for? Well, they are going to get a new little dog soon, and in order for the dog to get to the lawn and back from the house it has to get past 4 pretty tall steps from the patio to the lawn. Now little dogs get all kinds of problems with their back legs when they have to climb or descend a lot of steps, so the dog will need some kind of a ramp. And, if you think carefully - as my Mom always does - you might realize that in the winter any such ramp is likely to be covered with ice and snow, making it useless - thus the need for some sort of a tunnel.

Dad to the rescue! Check out what he came up with when Mom mentioned the tunnel idea.

I guess it’s only fair to add onto this post that the tunnel has been deemed too visually offensive for a permanent place next to the patio stairs - by both Mom and Dad. It’s already been removed and we await the Dog Tunnel Version 2 with bated breath.
