I was traveling on business this last week so I’m now “resurfacing” into the world and onto my blog. (Still 46 emails to read!) Within 24 hours of my return to Germany, Tim and I signed the papers for the flat we’re buying (finally!!!!) and tried to finish up Christmas shopping.

We’re making lasagne for dinner tonight but it looks like I’ve screwed it up, at least for Tim - didn’t buy enough ground beef, replaced the traditional red sauce with vegetable sauce, and added fresh aubergine. The real test is in the eating of course, so hopefully Tim will still like it .. a bit ;)

We decided today that as part of our new kitchen in the new house, we will add a bar element onto the long counter that faces the livingroom. Tim had to convince me about it but in the end he got his wish, plus the very dark-colored work surface. My end of the bargain? I get to pick out the bar stools since I’m the one that is most likely to have “issues” with them, like not being tall enough to get in them or falling off them or having them fall on me when I’m trying to get in them. Of course, in the end Tim will choose the bar chairs and I will get to approve, but that’s also good :)

We bought tickets today for the party we’re going to for New Year’s Eve and I’m very excited about it. It’s very close by (as opposed to being in Frankfurt) which I really like, nothing as un-relaxing as freezing to death in the cold on your way home from a New Years party. It has an outdoor and an indoor part, so when the smoke inside is too much for me, I can go outside and get a fresh breath of air. It will have fireworks set off outside, so we won’t have to buy our own (read: safer). And it’s at the right “type” of place: not too chic but not too alternative, and with an average age well above 20!
